The Storied History of the North Haven Fair

Founded in 1942, the North Haven Fair is one of Connecticut’s longest-running agricultural fairs. It began as a grassroots effort to honor local farming traditions and bring together the community during World War II. What started as a humble harvest showcase has grown into a cherished annual tradition, deeply rooted in **Connecticut’s agricultural heritage**.

From Plows to Parades

Originally hosted by the North Haven Fair Association, the fair featured ox pulls, livestock judging, pie baking contests, and youth agricultural education. As the decades passed, new generations brought fresh ideas—from craft competitions and homegrown produce contests to live music, midway rides, and educational exhibits. Yet the core values have remained: community, education, and celebration of rural life.

Built by Locals, For Locals
